Waze on your Kawasaki dashboard
Waze Mode sends Waze turns, distance and speed cameras to the app, and from there to your bike. To make it work you need a specific Waze build, prepared to talk to Super Kawa. The Play Store Waze does not share this data.
Waze compatible with Super Kawa
SuperWazeKawa.apkArrows on the dashboard appear only on the models whose TFT draws them (see which). On the others, Waze still guides you by voice, and Super Kawa keeps showing the bike data.
Read this first
- The Play Store Waze has to be uninstalled. That erases Waze data on the phone (favourites, history, settings). If you use a Waze account, sign in again afterwards to get your favourites back.
- Do not update this Waze from the Play Store. If the store offers an update for Waze, ignore it: the store version does not talk to Super Kawa.
- Android may warn that the file comes from outside the store. That is expected for apps installed from a file.
Step by step
Uninstall the Play Store Waze
In Super Kawa, open the Navigate tab, choose Waze and tap UNINSTALL WAZE. If you prefer, do it in Settings › Apps › Waze › Uninstall.
Download the compatible Waze
Tap DOWNLOAD WAZE above, on the phone. The file is about 130 MB.
Install the file
Open the downloaded file (from the notification or the Downloads folder) and tap Install. If Android asks, allow your browser to install apps and go back to the file.
Open Waze once
Accept the terms, allow location and, if you want, sign in to your Waze account.
Check the card in Super Kawa
Back in the Navigate tab with Waze selected, the card shows the status: Waze not started until you open Waze, No route · reading radars with Waze open and no route, and Following the route during navigation.
Tip
You can switch apps or lock the phone: Super Kawa keeps receiving the navigation. Waze only has to stay open (in the background is fine).
Common problems
The card says "Incorrect Waze version"
The phone still has the Play Store Waze (or an old build). Tap UNINSTALL WAZE on the card and install again from the button on this page.
The card says "Waze not started"
Open Waze. Nothing reaches the app while Waze is closed.
Android blocked the installation
Allow the browser you used for the download to install apps (Android shows the shortcut to this setting), then open the file again. If Play Protect asks, tap Install anyway.
Speed cameras appear but not the turns
Turns only reach the dashboard during a Waze route, and only on the models whose dashboard draws arrows. With no route, Super Kawa shows speed cameras only.
Can I go back to the Play Store Waze?
Yes. Uninstall this build and install Waze from the Play Store again. Waze Mode stops working, but Google Maps and the internal map keep working.
