Privacy Policy
In short
- No account, no login, no ads, no advertising trackers.
- Your rides, routes, garage, service and fuel logs stay on your phone.
- Your GPS location is never sent to our server.
- What goes online: anonymous usage statistics, purchase validation, address search, weather, crash reports and, in the beta, the Bluetooth diagnostics you can turn off at any time.
1. Who we are
Super Kawa is an Android app developed independently by Guilherme Marzochi, an individual developer in Brazil. It connects your phone to the TFT dashboard of Rideology-compatible Kawasaki motorcycles over Bluetooth Low Energy. It is not affiliated with Kawasaki.
Contact: guilherme.marzochi@gmail.com
2. What stays on your phone
- Bike data read from the dashboard (model, VIN, odometer, speed, RPM, gear, temperatures, fuel, battery, tyre pressures, settings and service reminders).
- Rides: route, time and the bike data sampled along the way.
- Garage, service log and fuel log, including costs, places and notes you type.
- Offline maps, recent destinations, favourites and preferences.
None of this is sent to us. It only leaves the phone if you export a backup or share a file yourself. Android's own device backup may include the app's data in your Google account backup, according to your phone settings.
3. What is sent to the internet
3.1 Anonymous usage statistics
When the app opens, it sends to our server: a random session ID, an anonymous device ID (an irreversible SHA-256 hash of the Android ID, truncated to 16 characters), app version, Android version, phone model, language and time zone, the plan in use and aggregate counters (for example, how many routes were navigated with each map). The server derives an approximate location (country, state, city) from the IP address. No GPS coordinates, destinations or routes. This data is deleted after 30 days of inactivity.
3.2 Bluetooth diagnostics (beta)
To fix problems and support more motorcycles, the app records its conversation with the dashboard: the Bluetooth messages exchanged with timestamps, connection events and errors, and the session header (app version, phone model, Android version, protocol, bike model and VIN). No location is recorded. Sessions are compressed on the phone and sent to our server periodically when there is an internet connection.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings › Data and backup › Diagnostics, where you can also delete what is stored on the phone. Diagnostics on the server are kept for up to 12 months and used only to develop the app. Ask us by e-mail to delete yours earlier.
3.3 Purchases and subscriptions
Payments are processed by Google Play. To unlock paid features, the app sends the anonymous device ID and the purchase token issued by Google Play to our server, which may check it with Google. We store only the entitlement state and dates, never card or Google account details.
3.4 Address search, maps and weather
- When you search an address online, the text you type is sent to geocoding services (Photon and Nominatim, based on OpenStreetMap, and Google Places for places by name). The app tries the offline search first.
- Map tiles are downloaded from OpenFreeMap, CARTO and OpenStreetMap, which see the area of the map being displayed. Offline routing data is downloaded from our server.
- The weather card sends your approximate coordinates to Open-Meteo to get the forecast.
3.5 Crash reports
If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics (Google) receives the technical crash report: stack trace, app and Android versions, phone model and an installation identifier. It does not include your rides or bike data.
3.6 Help requests and Google Maps diagnostics
When you report a problem from inside the app, the description you write, the connection state and the last navigation instruction are sent. When support gives you a code to diagnose Google Maps External Mode, the app captures up to 5 Google Maps navigation notifications (text and arrow images) for 24 hours. Both only happen when you start them. Unrecognised Google Maps arrow images (icons only) may be sent to improve recognition.
4. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Nearby devices (Bluetooth) | Find and connect to the dashboard. |
| Location | Internal map navigation, ride recording and weather. Used on the phone; never sent to our server. |
| Notification access | Read Google Maps navigation notifications (External Mode) and show the message icon on the dashboard. Notification content is not stored. |
| Phone state | Show the incoming call icon on the dashboard. |
| Notifications, foreground service, battery optimisation | Keep the connection and navigation running with the screen off. |
| Uninstall apps | Only when you tap "Uninstall Waze" in Waze Mode. |
| Billing, internet | Purchases and the online features described above. |
5. Sharing
We do not sell or share your data with anyone. The services listed in section 3 receive only what is needed for each function, under their own privacy policies (Google, OpenStreetMap services, OpenFreeMap, CARTO, Open-Meteo). Our server is hosted by Hostinger, connections use HTTPS and access to the data is restricted to the developer.
6. Your rights
You can stop all optional sending by turning diagnostics off, and remove everything stored on the phone by clearing the app data or uninstalling it. You can ask for access to or deletion of data held on our server by e-mail. Since we do not identify users, tell us the phone model and approximate dates so we can find it. These rights apply under the LGPD (Brazil), the GDPR (EU) and similar laws.
7. Children
Super Kawa is meant for adult motorcyclists and is not directed at children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The date at the top shows the latest version.
